How to Solve Problems

Problem Solving Exercise for Managers

What is the Problem?

We often confuse the symptom as the actual problem. We have to identify the CAUSE if we're going to find a meaningful solution.

Why is the Problem a Problem?

Once we've ensured we're not distracted by a symptom, we have to be sure that we've clearly identified why the problem really is a problem to the team and/or organization.

What Solutions are Available?

Leaders solve problems, they don't feed them. Once we know the cause and the impact, we must redirect the energy of the team to identifying and implementing solutions.

  • The symptom vs cause
  • The real problem that needs solving
